IMPORTANT NEWS - Last Show of the Year!

The next show scheduled at the Middle East on April 11th will be my last show until late 2010/early 2011.

For the next few months, I will be turning my attention to:

·         Uploading video's of past performances

·         Vying for airplay

·         Distributing/selling the new album Tinderbox

·         Finishing songs for the next album

·         Soundtracks for independent films

·         Preparing for baby (yup - I'm pretty pregnant!)

So please come down to the Middle East, catch the last show of the year and celebrate with me!

Cheers!

Twitter dude...

That's right, I have gone to Twitter.  Thanks to the help of a new Whack Berry, I can Blog 140 characters until my hearts content and I certainly have been taking full advantage of it.  I have been posting song lyrics and poems and other stuff as well so if you're on there, let me know!

Resolution who?

Ok so to my defense I am writing again.   At this rate we may get to four posts this year...damn it!  I'm writing because I have met many  talented musicians in a short time and they inspired me to write.

The first person I met was Dan aka Tra-Sweets who is a drummer and engineer who happens to be joining me on stage for the April 17th show.  He is not only a talented drummer but is a wicked nice guy with like 11 kick ass roommates who don't mind too much when we rehearse there on the weeknights!

The next guy I was grateful to meet was Faust Eddy.  I was looking for guitarists and there were 20 responses via craigslist.  I swore that the task at that point seemed impossible since the show was three weeks away and I couldn't possibly meet with every person.  Fast (interchangeable with Faust) Eddy seemed the obvious choice since he sent me metal, rock and acoustic samples and he has a totally wacked out sense of humor which I have and can appreciate.   I'm glad to have found him as the second time we met we almost fell through my floor rocking out in the attic; who needs stairs? I haven't had that much fun practicing at home in a while.  Lucky for me he will also be performing with us on April 17th.

The next group of musicians I met were two talented ladies Kara and Kat of  Brief Awakening.  You should check out their music.  I like their story, their style and they are beyond fun to watch.   Meeting them gave me hope that there are other nice musicians in Boston since I've had my share of promoting events for musicians who really don't care so much about other musical folks which is a shame as we should all stick together.  Caring is sharing shows!   They seemed to feel the same so look for some potential show dates as we are hoping to book a double bill soon.

Hopefully if you come to the show you will meet all of the above people including the Magnificient Melika who is the Mistress of all "Musical" instruments and always inspires me.  These guys are amazing to perform with so this show is going to be a blast.  Hope you can come!

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great New Year!  If you live here in New England you had a choice to make...brave the freezing cold weather or stay in.  I chose to drive a few minutes down the road to a friends house.  When we first got there around 9:30pm, things were just getting started.  I brought some Sam Winter (my fav beer!) and some Merlot for the host.  Others brought stuff like noisemakers, champagne and a whole bunch of hope for 2009.  It started off calmly, eating appetizers like Meatballs and cookies and such and before you know it we were all singing Material Girl at the top of our lungs (men included) trying to beat eachother at the karaoke-like PlayStation game SingStar.  Then some people figured out you can manipulate the noisemakers to sound like dying barn yard animals and all auditory hell broke loose.  I have to say that it was the most fun (and loud) New Years I've had in a while.

On the subject of New Years Resolutions; Do you have any?  Do you think they work? Here are a few of my music related resolutions for 2009...

  • Start a Blog
  • Release New Album By March
  • Perform at least one show per month
  • Find a Manager/Booking Agent

Personally, I have many more and I won't bore you with them but I personally think that resolutions have some power.  I think just by typing up some of my goals is a confirmation that these things are worthy of doing.   Hell, I've got the first one in the bag!

Happy New Year!

Crazy thought of the day...

We understand that there are sounds around us that our ears cannot hear.  A dog whistle for instance; we know that dogs can hear it.  We see them respond to it but our ears cannot pick up on such a high frequency.   On the other side of the frequency specrum we know now that elephants can communicate over long distances to eachother using sound.  It's just too low for us to hear but those big ears certainly can.  So if we recognize there are things out there that our ears connot pick up on, than there must be stuff around that our eyes cannot see as well.  So much for the "seeing is believing" paradigm.
